Getting into DIU: the admission test and how to apply

Everything a new student needs for Daffodil International University’s admission, from who can apply to the day of the test, in one place. Taken from DIU’s own admission pages, last checked on 3 October 2026.

Apply online

How to apply

  1. Check that you can apply

Look up your program's requirements below. You need your HSC (or equivalent) result first: applications aren't taken before it is published.

  2. Apply online

Create an account on the admission portal (admission.daffodilvarsity.edu.bd) and apply for a faculty's admission test. You can choose several programs within a faculty and apply to up to three faculties, as long as their test times don't clash. Pay the application fee online or in cash.

  3. Get your admit card

The admission office checks your eligibility again and emails you: either your admit card for the test, or that a department recommends you for admission directly.

  4. Sit the admission test

The test takes one hour, at your faculty's time on the test day. Bring your admit card.

  5. Get admitted

Submit your documents and pay the admission fees, then register for your first semester's courses with your department.

Who can apply

  • At least GPA 2.50 in both SSC and HSC (or equivalent). This is the usual minimum; each program sets its own requirements, and some ask for more, such as a total GPA of 6.00.
  • Programs ask for subjects too. Computer Science and Engineering, for example, needs HSC from science with Physics, Mathematics and English; a diploma in Computer Technology with GPA 2.50 in SSC also qualifies.
  • English medium: five O-level and two A-level subjects, with at least four B grades and three C grades among the seven (no D). CSE needs Physics and Mathematics at both levels.
  • A gap of at most two years after HSC for bachelor's programs. With a longer gap, ask the admission office.

Each program’s exact requirements are on DIU’s program pages, or ask the admission office.

The admission test

Admission tests are held by faculty, for each semester. The test takes one hour; each faculty has its own time on the test day:

Faculty ofTest time
Science and Information Technology9:00 to 10:00 am
Humanities and Social Sciences9:00 to 10:00 am
Business and Entrepreneurship11:00 am to 12:00 pm
Health and Life Sciences11:00 am to 12:00 pm
Engineering2:30 to 3:30 pm

The test dates for the coming semester are on the admission portal. You can sit the tests of up to three faculties if their times don’t clash.

What to prepare

DIU doesn’t publish a syllabus or past papers for the admission test that we could find. Revise your HSC basics, English, and for science and engineering programs Mathematics and Physics. Come early with your admit card.

When to apply

DIU takes new students three times a year. Each semester has its own application deadline:

  • Spring: January to April
  • Summer: May to August
  • Fall: September to December

A few programs, such as LL.B., Pharmacy and Architecture, run two semesters a year and take students for Spring and Fall.

Documents to bring

  • SSC, Dakhil, O-level or diploma certificate and mark sheet
  • HSC, Alim, A-level or diploma certificate and mark sheet (diploma: all eight semesters' mark sheets)
  • Education board copies of certificates and mark sheets; online copies aren't accepted
  • NID of the student, father and mother (a birth certificate is accepted for a while if you don't have an NID yet)
  • Two recent formal photos
  • For a quota-based waiver, the certificates that prove it

Fees and waivers

Tuition differs by program: see DIU’s tuition fees. Waivers on tuition depend on your SSC and HSC results (DIU’s waiver calculator shows yours), and there are scholarships and waivers for other reasons too. For CSE, LL.B. and B.Pharm, only a GPA 5.00 in HSC and quota-based waivers count. Ask for waivers you qualify for when you’re admitted; need-based ones are applied for after your first semester.
